I wonder is there is some way to to make the curor move a lot faster over the timeline, than normal. I don’t mean scrubbing but actual play at a very accelerated rate.

I’ve grown to really like the ability in Premiere to accelerate playback to the point of the ridiculous by pressing play (spcbar) then hold Shift and tap L (el) as much as you like to keep accelerating, at least up to the point where the audio sounds like a herd of chipmonks on crack.

Aside from always giving me a good horse laugh, its really a good way to quickly preview a whole timeline in sort order and be able to see many kinds of errors even at that speedy clip.

(No matter how many times its done, I always get a good chuckle out of it)

Unlike scrubbing which is only good for a short ways before becoming jerky and hard to tell if any errors are present or not, the super fast play is nice and steady so you can still see many kind of possible errors.

I’m trying to wean myself from premiere since the more recent versions and especially CS5 are getting so stratospheric expensive and the development seems to be moving toward more and more selectivity as to possible user base, just be ruling a whole class of people out by the price and whats worse the very expensive hardware that is getting to be required to run adobe tools.

I was told by a developer that they are now recommending 12-16 GB ram and quad core. To run Premier CS5 properly.

Pressing J,K,L on the keyboard will allow you playback at different speeds. J plays backwards, K pauses and L plays forward. Repeated pressing J or L will speed up the reverse or forward playback…

Nice… its similar to what you can do on Premier but even better with the reverse ability… (That may also be possible on Premiere… I’ve not noticed it but never went looking either)

I do notice the speed peaks out quite a bit slower than the similar function in premiere but still is very handy.
