Upgrade to Vegas Pro 10 and stop converting them at all. Vegas Pro 10 added better support for Canon 5D/7D files and it might work for the 2Ti. Download the trial and see.

Cineform also has support for Canon 2Ti files and supports 1080-30p. Of course, for the price of Cineform you’ve almost paid for the Vegas upgrade.

DNxHD, under the latest Quicktime 7, sure seems to support your choice of the usual frame rates, resolutions, and progressive/interlaced settings you normally expect. I have used it for 1080/24p and 720/60p, made up my own presets for that, and it’s fine… slow, but fine.

Just tried 720/30p, and it worked just dandy.

Do make sure you have the latest DNxHD and Quicktime installed.
