Yep, pretty much same problem i have https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/919870
Frapsed files (avis) give me same annoying lag. Do you have a single partition? (C:) and importing files from external drives or CD? I really start thinking this might be problem in my case.. -_-‘

You would be best off using a format that is more standard. FRAPS can put some weird stuff in an .avi container. Stuff the normal video editing world has no clue about.

Matching your project settings to the media being used will also speed it up. As you showed it Vegas has to convert everything from the weird format FRAPS garbage to the 720×480 project Vegas was set for. This all takes time.

P.S. The lag in putting a file on the timeline was not that long, especially coming from an external hard drive that might not have been spooled up.

P.S.S. You might find people more helpful when not running a pirated copy of Vegas.

Yes, importing some types of AVI files has been broken since 9.0d. Sony for some reason must not be very concerned with fixing it.

The “fix” is to use an older version of a .dll file from before Sony broke it.

Where you can get an older version of the .dll:

I just found out about this solution myself. I wasn’t able to use Vegas 10 because I could not import my video files. I personally have only tested this briefly but it seems to work fine as others have reported. Hopefully Sony will eventually fix this in version 10.

It’s funny because they didn’t fix it in Vegas 10.

In any case, THANK YOU. This dll fix works in Sony Vegas 10 as well!!

I was pissed that it didn’t work, but not nearly as pissed as I would have been if I wasted all that money on Sony Vegas 10. I’ll be honest when I say I pirated it because I knew a problem like this was bound to occur. -_-

I’m glad people are still willing to help though. The fact that Sony doesn’t fix problems like this upsets me. Seriously, why buy expensive software that doesn’t work anyway? What a rip off! But alas, I cannot complain. I’m happy now.
