Please Check My Render Settings
Hi, I’m working with a bunch of mpg files, converted from VOB after I converted my old VHS tapes to DVD using a DVD recorder. I know, not the best option, but it happened years ago and I’m actually pleased with how the mpg files turned out.
I’m now using Vegas Pro 9 to edit the mpg videos, add graphics, and eventually render them to DVD. Only standard quality is needed, and the end result will be about 35 DVDs with roughly 75-90 minutes each.
These are the project properties and render settings I plan to use. Please let me know if you have any suggestions that might improve the final result, thank you:

Why did you change your Deinterlace Method to None? this is going to make a mess of your video. Set it back to Blend Fields!
For your project settings, I would not have changed the Pixel Format or the Compositing Gamma from the defaults. Unless you have a specific need to use 32-bit, I would use the default 8-bit.

Hi John, I’m brand new to Vegas and video editing in general. I changed the deinterlace method and the result was a video with less blur than before on the motions in the video. So thank you for the advice.
I tried your other advice as well but for my project it ended up looking much better as 32-bit. At 8-bit, the video jumped and the motions were not smooth.

You might also want to try 2 pass VBR rendering under the custom settings of the render template, and use a bit-rate calculator to determine the best low, average and high settings. I am assuming your video is over 60 minutes long.
