  • Decreased Audio Volume after Rendering

    Hello everyone, my last experience with this forum was a good one as I got the right answer in a very short time, thank you guys for that!

    This time, it seems that I have a problem related to the audio part. I’m currently working on a music video and the volume of the audio it is exactly the same when I listen the song in Media Player (for example), it is the same when I listen it in Sony Vegas while editing but it is significant decreased after render. Might be there some default options to reduce the volume of the audio automatically if it exceeds a limit? Comparing the rendered video + song to the song listened in Media Player the volume is half decreased in the rendered video. I was carefully to check the audio track to be at 0 dB, thus, as the song is, and it really is ok, the audio is exactly as the MP3 in the Sony Vegas while previewing. After rendering, its volume gets decreased. Thus, it seems that there might be some render settings affecting the volume. Any ideas on this?

    Is this after rendering to DVD?
    If yes, try modifying your AC-3 preset as follows.

    Encode set to AC3;
    Click on custom tab;
    On the first tab set Dialog normalization to “-31”;
    On the last tab marked preprocessing;
    Set the Line Mode & RF mode profiles to “None”;
    Now save this as a preset.

    The music video I’m currently working at is for Youtube. I’ll check the settings you suggested me soon.

    The numbers I gave you were if you were doing a render to DVD.
    Since this is Youtube, they’re not applicable.

    What version of Vegas do you have (Pro or Movie Studio)?
    What formats are you/have you tried rendering to?

    I was rendering to m2ts 1080-60i as my Panasonic HDC-SD10 shoots in 1080i. However, I found the problem in a way or another. I rendered the video in wmv format and everything turned to be well, the audio volume being the same as the song and preview one. There may be a problem with the mt2s format or AC3 codec. In conclusion, I used another format to render and everything it’s ok. Thank you for your support, Mike!

    I still can’t figure out why your audio levels are different depending on the format you render to as this shouldn’t happen.
    As long as you got something you’re happy with, I guess it’s OK then.

    Check to make sure AGC (automatic gain control) is off (unchecked).
