Vegas Movie studio 9 Platinum Pro High def Editing
Posted by Tim Siggs on October 15, 2010 at 10:25 amI have just entered the world of HD.I would really appreciate some help.My Panosonic Video records in M2TS FILES.After transferring to Vegas, the first problem is that the playback is slow even when the preview window is reduced in size and quality. Is there any way around this?
I would also like some help in terms of settings for Rendering to DVD.I am familiar with Sd settings but this is new to me.
Many thanks,Tim.
Hi ,I am a new user of Architect 4.5.I am experiencing an ongoing problem in regard to getting a 16:9 burnt DVD displaying correctly on my new widescreen Tv.Ie it shows as letterbox display.I have recorded in 16:9,set the Vegus settings to Pal widescreen,Rendered in Pal Widescreen(I believe sucessfully).I can playback throught the computer ,say through Media player in Widescreen.I have also set my Architect settings to Pal Widescreen. However, the Tv will only play it with letterbox viewing.I would really appreciated any help as I’ve puzzled over this one for days!!Thanks,Tim.

Buy a faster computer (minimum QuadCore 2.8GHz) and/or upgrade to the latest Vegas Movie Studio 10 HD which has improvements for handling AVCHD files. Otherwise AVCHD will always playback choppy.

Render your video using the MainConcept MPEG-2 render type with the DVD Architect PAL Widescreen video stream template. Then render your audio using Dolby Digital AC3. If you keep the file names the same (just a different extension .mpg & .ac3) DVD Architect will know that the video and audio go together.

Did you configure your DVD player to work with a widescreen TV? Most DVD players are set to 4:3 from the factory. You need to go into the video settings and tell them that they are attached to a widescreen TV by changing the 4:3 setting to 16:9.

It should be above the MainConcept option. This is installed when you install DVD Architect. You will have either the Pro or Studio version of Dolby Digital AC-3.

October 17, 2010 at 11:41 amThanks once again.I have battled with this again today and unless I’m missing something really obvious,I don’t think my Studio 9 is the same.
I have 4 boxes when rendering.File name….(Description of project)
Save as Type ( main concept Mpeg2..as suggested)
Template ( Dvd Architect Pal Widescreen Video Stream..As suggested)However the last box called Description has a scrolling arrow with 3 options in the box, none of which are ‘white background’ but grey ie.I am not able to change them ,furthermore, they don’t have the Dolby option either. The only place the Dolby AC-3 is optioned is instead of the Main concept…in the Save as box.
I appologise if I’m missing something obvious here.Do I need to be running through the process twice ie Video and audio? Thanks,Tim.

No, I appologise for confusing you. There are two ways to render in Movie Studio and I gave you the way I would do it in Vegas Pro using using File | Render As… I see now that you are using the Make Movie button. I don’t have Movie Studio 9 but I do have Movie Studio HD 10 so these are the instructions for Movie Studio HD 10 which might not match exactly (sorry)
If you want to use Make Movie, then:
- Select Burn it to a DVD or Blu-ray Disc and click Next
- Select DVD and click Next
- Select Use widescreen DVD format and click Next, and it will render the proper MPG and AC3 file for you.
If you then press the button that says Send to DVD Architect Studio to will send them to DVD Architect Studio for authoring.
BTW, All of your posts have your original post at the bottom. It looks like it might be in your signature. You should probably delete that to not confuse people.

October 18, 2010 at 12:03 pmOk thanks once again.I have infact been using the File..Save as,to render but can only assume that Studio 9 is differant from your 10.However,I have rendered a small video using the suggested alternate method i.e Make movie etc. This has worked successfully.Maybe this is the way ahead for now, untill I upgrade the software to 10.Can I upgrade or do I have to Purchase from scratch? Many thanks for now,I’m learning bit by bit!!

You can upgrade from the Sony website at a discounted price.
