I have been trying to make a intro for a video for the past 3 hours today with PTT but it refuses to work properly. Regardless of what settings I have in the PTT time line the MG block in the Vegas time line only reads the last setting for the text.

    Example:

I have a text block that is supposed to fade in then after a few seconds fade out. It does this correctly in the PTT time line when I play it. But when I play back the project back in the Vegas time line the text always shows as 100% opaque from the get go of the MG clip, then in the middle starts to fade out.

It does this with any setting, blurs, scale, offsets, nothing works the way it should. I already checked the timing and the clip is 15 seconds long in both time lines (PTT and Vegas).

I recently uninstalled QuickTime, could that have any effect here?

The only other time I have used PTT was in 9.0b, but I had to upgrade to c because b would not work with my fraps recordings after I updated it so I don’t know if this is a bug with c or something else, but it used to work perfectly.

Why don’t you just use Vegas Pro 9.0e? There were lots of bugs fixed between c, d, & e.

E does not work with Fraps recorded footage at all, it will not load the clips due to a incompatibility with the codec Fraps uses. Since pretty much all of the footage I work with is recorded with Fraps, D and E are both not viable choices.

I fixed my problem though. After several .net framework crashes Vegas seemed to fix the major problem I was having at the time, which was the timing issue. But then it started happening again. It was then that I noticed that empty projects started out with the “beginning” of the clip set to be the middle (the reverse carrot marking on top of the clip and white arrow on the bottom). So I slip it there and now ProType is correctly making empty clips again. Not sure what caused this in the first place though.

I’ve always struggled with the ProType Titler. Are there any really good tutorials for it out there?

    Thanks.

How about Absolute Training for Vegas+DVD, Vol. 9 Master the Pro Type Titler with Douglas Spotted Eagle? This DVD will give you 95 minutes of professional training that should demystify the tool.

Check out a preview (not good quality but gives you an idea or the content):

Thank you. I may have to grab that. I’ve figured out the raw basics but some of the more advanced things there is what I’ve kinda been struggling with.

I know it can do way more than what I’ve done with it, which is very little.

    Gracias John…
