Vegas Pro 9.0 trial version expired, can’t open projects
Hey,
I just completed a trial version of Vegas Pro 9.0. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading from version 8.0 just yet. Now anything I created in the trial version 9.0 will not open in version 8.0.I figured this would happen, but I forgot about one project I created and didn’t render it befor the trial ended. Is there anyway to recover the project in Pro 8.0? When I try to open, it says it’s an unsupported format.

You would have to find another computer that you could load the trial onto and render there. There is no way to extend the trial and no way to open a future version’s project in a past version. (something about the space-time continuum comes to mind) 😉
Now would be a foolish time to upgrade anyway. If you can wait until Oct 11th you can download the trial of Vegas Pro 10 and perhaps upgrade to that.

But then again Greg, If you had no intention to upgrade to Version 9
you should have just used it as your trial, not any of your major
work……Unfortunately there is no way you gonna get it open in

On the cusp of 10.0, I think I’d wait too.
You pretty much need to move that project to another computer. If you don’t have another computer, there’s a “hard work” solution, maybe. Go download VirtualBox, install your favorite version of Windows that supports Vegas Pro 9.0 into a virtual machine. Load up the project in the VM.. you have another month, though it’s probably going to be a slow one.
Depending on your project, you can get at much of it loaded into Vegas 8, I believe. Once you’re back in to Vegas 9, try exporting to an AAF file (Save As…, then find the AAF tab). This is a standard NLE interchange file. It doesn’t export plug-ins or plug-in settings, but it does exports your cuts and some other useful information. I don’t recall offhand if Vegas 8 supports AAF, but it probably does.
Note also that AAF export is missing in Vegas 9 Pro 64-bit for some mysterious reason, so you need to do this from the 32-bit version.
