  • Lights in pre-comp affecting main composition

    Hi guys,

Just installed CS4 qnd everything is going great, but I just tried to render a comp at best quality settings and suddenly the 3D layers in the main comp are lit by the lights in a nested precomp (which, by the way, is the bottom layer in the main comp. This was not apparent in the previews. Have I missed something?

    Many thanks,

    Daniel

If you have continiously rasterize turned on, then the lights will pass through into the current comp from the pre-comp.

Actually, when you collapse transformations/continuously rasterize, the lights in the pre-comp will be ignored in the main comp. However, if you have the collapse transformations layer switch off the lights should not affect the layers in the main comp either.

I have no idea how this is happening. Can you post a picture of your timeline?

Thanks for the replies. It turns out the error was completely human. I was not previewing a light which was hidden in another one of the precomps because I was in draft 3D mode.

    Thanks anyway.
