Some videos not working
When I put in my video it is working just fine so I continue to add my clips in and when I render it where some of the clips were there is nothing but black and they worked fine before. And I hadn’t moved the clips from their original place. It never used to do that to me before and now it is starting. I didn’t do anything but add to my video and it is really starting to get annoying I am thinking of getting rid of Sony Vegas.

What version of Sony Vegas are you using? What format are your source files? I have seen this problem with Vegas Movie Studio HD 10 and h.264 files. If so, there is nothing you can do. It appears to be a bug that Sony needs to fix.

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9 along with AVI. Is there a better format to use when using SV? Is avi not a good format to use? Or should I convert it to something that will work better?

AVI is just the container but it can contain any number of different video formats inside depending on the codec that was used. Do you know what codec the AVI files use? If not, download a free utility called GSpot and open the file with that and see what codec it uses.

The Video is DX50 and since audio isn’t a problem didn’t look at that one.

Well there’s your problem… DX50 is DivX and Vegas doesn’t work reliably with DivX (it is not a supported format either).
Try converting the video to DV, MJPEG, Huffyuv, Lagarith, or any other intraframe codec that Vegas supports.

What would be the best to convert it to? Like the most reliable video format?

Is the video HD or SD? If it’s SD, then DV or MJPEG will do a nice job. If it’s HD then MJPEG is still a good option. Huffyuv and Lagarith will give the best quality for SD and HD but it will also give the largest file size. I find MJPEG to be a good compromise between quality and size. Personally I use Cineform but that isn’t free so I’m recommending free alternatives for you.
