Huffyuv in Win 7
Over the weekend, I was attempting to work with an xvid file in Windows 7. I downloaded a trial version of Vegas Pro 9, and it, as expected, displayed only the audio from the file although Media Player could play it. I downloaded Avidemux, and converted the avi file to Huffyuv. I also downloaded and installed the Huffyuv 2.2 codec. Although Vegas had successfully imported the xvid file, It repeatedly hung while trying to import the file after Huffyuv was installed.
Any idea what the problem is? Does Huffyuv work under Windows 7 32 bit?

You might want to try Lagarith instead. It is lossless just like Huffyuv but it seems to work in applications that Huffyuv doesn’t for some reason.

Lagarith is not an option in Avidemux. That is one reason I have not tried it. How does one convert to Lagarith, and where is the codec? I am just a bit leery of nastyware.

You can find Lagarith here but I agree that, in general, programs that convert video are usually full of nastyware which is why I like Avidemux but you’re correct, it’s not seeing my Lagarith codec either. I don’t use any other converter so I can’t say which to use. Just be careful what you download.
