Audio conflict
Hi have:
Vegas 9
Win 7
ECHO Audio GINA 24 (pci)
updated win7 driver from echoWhen I open both vegas and windows media player the audio begins to slow down to a low slow motion effect. A speaking voice will eventualy sound like the creature Zuul from ghost busters.
Is there a step by step that I can apply to WIN7 and have all things, i.e. system sounds, WMP, vegas, sound forge and other misc program all default audio to the GINA card output 1&2 with a locked sample rate??
It seems like I had no problems mapping all this in XP but this new set up is over my head.

No. If I were you, I would buy a pair of cheap speakers and use the sound chip on your motherboard for all system sounds. Then only use the Echo Gina for your audio applications. This is a much cleaner approach.

I could run the pc sound to the mixer on a seperate channel. Would this allow me to open Vegas and (let’s say) Windows media without conflict?

No, because Windows doesn’t use very high quality sounds so every time your PC wants to beep at you the sound card has to shift sample rates and bit depth to play that stupid sound and then switch back to work with your high quality audio. Trust me on this one… invest $9 on pair of cheap PC speakers and only use your audio card for your audio apps.

Thanks John, I follow you. Thats what I was trying to get to. The line level audio from the PC will go directly to the outboard mixing console not the virtual echo console.

Ahh… yes I follow you now. You will use the motherboard sound chip to feed the mixing console for the PC sounds. Yup, this should work well.
