Editing out portions of audio clip
To all the experts of the internet,
I’m working on a little video project using some old video files from years ago. I have this one part where the audio has some problems – while someone is delivering a speech, someone in the background opens the door, and since it was in desperate need of some oiling there is a loud and long creaking sound as they slowly open and close it. It is very loud and obvious, and it disrupts the elegance of the film.
I’m a complete amateur, so I was wandering if there was a way with vegas (or another program) to take this audio bit, and edit out ONLY the unwanted door creak, while leaving intact the rest of the audio.

iZotope RX is about the only program I can think of that might be able to do what you want.

Be prepared for a somewhat steep learning curve.
Fortunately there are several tutorials on the site that I highly encourage watching.
