OK, so I have a 5 camera shoot of a live play…all sony cams fx1, fx7,and hc1’s. I am having a TON of trouble color correcting the FX7 verses the other two. I have tried sony’s white balance (which I did at the show, but my cameraman MAY have bumped the WB to auto), both sony color correctors, NEWBLUE, and another 6 color, color corrector as well. It seems sometimes I get reasonable results, other times not so much. Is there ANY CC that allows you to pick a color from another camera angle and the same color in the one in need a correction and match them (Like a yellow or blue)?
I have yet to read or watch a decent explanation of color correcting in various forums, and 3 video tutorials that I have purchased. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I DO NOT need help in explaining white balancing at the show (as I have had 3, 2×4′ white balance cards made with various warming tones and such), and yes I understand that cameras all shoot “differently” based on CMOS, CCD chips and how many sensors..blah, blah, blah. I have used my fx1’s and hc1’s for years and have CC templates that work well to get pretty good results between the two (one being 1 chip CMOS the other 3 chip CCD). What I NEED help with in Color Correction in general and perhaps a better color corrector plug-in …thanks in advance for the help!!

Have you seen the VASST training DVD Absolute Training for Vegas+DVD, Vol. 4 Color Correction with Sony Vegas with Glenn Chan and Douglas Spotted Eagle? It really explains color correcting very well.

The DVD John is referring to was the first one I bought from VASST and I recommend it very highly.
After 30 years of producing videos, I thought I knew most of what I needed to.
Glenn & Spot showed me that I still had a lot to learn 🙂

any help with a better color corrector plugin?

I would not look for a better color corrector plug-in until you understand the art of color correction. The Sony plug-ins are all that I ever use now that I understand how to use them. Some people like the AAV ColorLab plug-in.
