I am upgrading one of my machines from 9b to 9e as I am posting this. I have a very particular Main Concept .mpg2 render template that I use for my workflow. This template uses Output Type DVD. Now, with 9e, Vegas fails to render this template: “An error occured… reason could not be determined”. Changing Output Type to MPEG-2 fixes the issue. However, this format is for a specific workflow and I am not at liberty to change it at this time.

Is a failure to render a MainConcept MPEG-2 in the DVD Output Type a known issue with Vegas 9e? Can anyone re-create this error? I am looking for input of any kind before I decide to just roll back to 9b. Here’s a screen grab of my template if that provides any more information.

You may have a corrupt installation or the template is corrupt. Try creating a new template with the exact same settings. I just rendered a file with your settings and it rendered fine.

Very strange, I uninstalled and reinstalled 9e, deleted the old template and recreated it from scratch, same error.

Hmmm… I can’t imagine what is preventing it from working for you. Maybe someone else here will have an idea? (sorry)

I appreciate you checking into it, John. We also just found that rendering a .mp4 iPod 640×480 video takes significantly longer in e than it does in b. That’s not acceptable for us, we are rolling back to b and plan on staying there for the time being.
