Files after rendering
Posted by Jan Renders on July 28, 2010 at 9:22 amDear all, I have a problem where Vegas renders in more than one file.
It seems that a maximum output is set, but I can’t find the settings.
Can anyone advise me on this issue please?Fernando Park replied 15 years, 8 months ago 4 Members · 11 Replies -

July 28, 2010 at 3:31 pmIf you mean that it is breaking up your renders into 4GB file sizes, the problem is probably that the hard drive that you are rendering to is formatted for FAT32 which has a 4GB filesize limit. Most external USB drives are formatted FAT32 by default. If this is the case, you’ll need to convert the drive to NTSC with the CONVERT command.

July 28, 2010 at 4:39 pmThanks John,
that will probably be the case! But in stead of converting, i will now convert on my internal HDD.

July 28, 2010 at 7:13 pmYou don’t need a YouTube video it’s not that complicated. As long as there is enough free space on the drive, you can just open a command prompt and issue the command:
CONVERT X: /FS:NTFS /VWhere X: is the drive letter of the FAT32 drive. You should backup the drive first in case anything goes wrong in the conversion process just to be safe.~jr

July 28, 2010 at 7:36 pmThanks guys, but instead of converting my external drive, I rendered
on my C drive and problem solved.
You’ve been a great help. -

August 25, 2010 at 2:27 amactually, i THINK i figured it out. i went to control panel, administrative tool, computer management, and then disk management. deleted the volume, and then typed in format h:/fs:fat32. sure is taking forever though. thanks.

August 25, 2010 at 12:14 pmYou didn’t need to delete the volume. You could have just reformatted it to FAT32 but that’s the only way is to reformat which wipes out all of your data so hopefully it was an empty drive or you backed up what was on there.
