I’ve captured footage into vegas that is shot with a DVX100B in squeeze mode. Vegas recognizes the footage as widescreen in both the capture window, trimmer and timeline. I can do anything that I want to with the footage from the original project and it will ALWAYS come out widescreen.

However, trying to use “Save As” along with “Copy media with project” and choosing to “Create trimmed copies of source media” results in footage in this newly saved project that is no longer in widescreen. Rather, it is in 4:3 with black bars on the left and the right.

If instead, I choose “Copy Source Media” rather than “Create trimmed copies of source media” it comes out fine. What’s up with that?

I noticed another person on the forums having the exact same problem but no solution was offered.

    Any ideas?

When you open this “squeezed” version, what are your project settings telling you? Also, when you click on the Event and look at the Media Properties what are they telling you – viz Media? What settings do you have for your Preview?

    Grazie

    Graham,

    Thanks for the reply.

When I use the ‘save as’ command and save just the trimmed clips, rather than the full original source clips, it is converting the pixel aspect ratio of the clips to .9091. In the original project they are 1.2121. Everything else between the two projects is the same: Project Properties, preview window settings, etc.

When I ‘Save as’ with the full original source media, they stay at 1.2121 and DON’T convert to .9091

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to change it that does not involve my having to change it back to 1.2121 in each individual clip in the new project? I would, but I have several hundred.

    Is this a bug?
