  Capturing video on vegas

  My son has Sony DSL250 camera. When he just hooks it straight to a monitor, the footage looks fantastic. When he downloads (captures) to Sony Vegas with firewire, video often looks grainy. We are real amatures at this and I am posting for him. Any suggestions. Computer is a fast, new, plenty of ram and harddrive space running Win XP.

  Sam, a firewire capture is a bit-for-bit transfer of the data that’s on your tape.
  Nothing gets changed during this transfer so the grainy look you’re seeing is the result of something else.
  How are you watching it to come to this conclusion?

  You may have your preview moniter set to a lower quality, which gives you more frames per second to preview. Set to Best, Full and it should look the same as from the camera. Hope this hekps,
