Advice on importing and rendering .mov from Kodak Playsport
I am using Sony Vegas Pro 9 to assemble a 3 and a half minute clip of some video I shot using a Kodak Playsport. The camera produces .mov video (Gspot reports Apple Quick Time 1280 x 720, video codec avc1 H.264, fps 59.923, audio = mp4a MPEG-4 AAC 48000Hz 128kb/s stereo).
There are no effects in the video, just 4 short sections fading into eachother.
I don’t really mind what format I use to render, I just want these 4 sections joined together.
When I attempt to render it takes an impractically long time – over an hour. I’ve trawled the internet for hours looking for advice. I have tried matching the output settings exactly to the input settings, I’ve tried using an app called Game Booster to stop all non-essential processes, I’ve tried rendering to a non-compressed format but that takes just as long and results in an impossibly large file size. I’ve even tried rendering in draft quality and it takes just as long!
Is there anything I can do short of converting the clips to .wmv and reverting to Windows Movie Maker? I am tearing my hair out here – I’ve spent (wasted) two days on this and have nothing to show for it. It’s just not practical to expect to spend an hour rendering 3 minutes. Is it me – am I doing something wrong or is Sony Vegas simply not able to work with this video format?
