  • Effects misplaced and rendering problems.

    Hello all, I have consistently referred back to this forum as a resource for Sony Vegas, but now I have a question of my own.

    As a base I’ll give you my specs
    Sony Vegas Pro 8.0

    AMD Phenom II x3 720 – 2.81 Ghz Tri-Core
    NVidia GeForce 9800 GT
    4Gbs Memory

    I’ve recently been working on a movie project, one that requires some muzzle flash effects. In the editor everything is fine, they are all in the correct position. As soon as I render the video, the effects get mashed and randomized around the frame. This has got me perplexed any help would be appreciated.

    I also have a second problem that has seemed to be common with Vegas Pro 8.0, the footage I’m using is coming from a Canon Vixia Hf100 in 1080p HD. Since I started trying to render the footage from this camera I have been getting errors in the process such as. “Rendering could not complete due to an unknown error” or the progress bar will just freeze and not go any further. At the moment I’m rendering to the DVD Architect format MPEG-2 and it seems to be working fine. But pretty much every other HD format has failed so far

    is your source framerate different than your project framerate? Source PAR different than your final output? Got your “set aspect ratio” ticked in the Preview window?

    Which version of 8 are you using? The first two revs had huge issues rendering from the Vixia.

    Vegas Pro
    Version 8.0c (Build 260)

    How would I check the framerate thing? And “source PAR”… Sorry, that went right over my head.

    PAR=Pixel Aspect Ratio.
    Right click, look at properties of the clip. What is your source video?

    The pixel aspect ratio of the source clips register at “1.0000 (square)”
    I tried another attempt at rendering the footage after changing the framerate from PAL to NTSC, it seemed to work till about 57% when Vegas crashed.
