I have been producing using DVD +R and somone told me that DVD -R can be more universally played by different DVD players. Any ideas about which is preferred?

This is true, at least for me. DVD+R’s wont play or be recognised by some older DVd roms and outboard players. So when in doubt, use -R.

    Hi Chris,

I agree with Danny on the DVD-R. That’s all I purchase and when I produce my travel DVD’s, I place DVD-R on the DVD itself.

I’ll throw my hat in with everyone else that DVD-R is the universal standard almost every large company I’ve worked with uses exclusively. Anytime I’m given a DVD+R or sometimes even dvd-rw’s it’s always from a student or a friend of the bride or someone who just bought whatever was cheapest at Staples.
