Damaged Project Recovery
Is there any way to recover my damaged project file? My computer inexplicably froze while I was editing and I had to reboot. When I tried to open the file, it says “File Damaged” and won’t open.
I have already tried a number of different solutions, none of which have worked. The project was saved in 7.0, and I tried opening it in CS3. I tried importing it as footage in both 7.0 and CS3. I tried putting the project file on another computer that has CS3 installed, in order to open it and re-save it, but it would not even open. I tried renaming the folder that contains all my footage in order to do the same thing, and it failed, for both CS3 and 7.0.
Does anyone have a solution for repairing this file? I’ve lost a day’s worth of very tedious composting that will take me another day to redo, otherwise.

was autosave on? did u delete any old project files?
i know file scavenger can recover things, but if AE somehow overwrite one and only one copy of the project, you will have to
try opening after effects, then importing that messed up project file as if it were just a footage file. AEP files import into AE as their own little folders, so you can then go through and try to find what got corrupted. -
Sadly, importing the file did not work for me–I get the same error message.
File scavenger is just for finding deleted files on your hard drive, right? I don’t think it will help with fixing my current project file.
Does anyone know anything that will?
