    Hi Folks,

We’ve rendered out a long sequence of PNG files with alpha channels from Modo. We need to render this out as a lossless AVI to move on with the edit.

Is there an easy way to force all the files (500+) to change their masking properties to Premultiplied in one go – i.e. a script which runs a batch command on the whole lot?

    Thanks,

    John M.

Instead of a lossless AVI, bring it in as an image sequence.
File – Import, browse to folder, click on the first image, click the “Open still image sequence” box at the bottom of this window, click Open, adjust desired settings in the window that comes up and click OK.
Yow now have a sequence that can be added to the timeline complete with alpha channel.
Please note that all 500+ images must be properly sequentially numbered.
That is, they must be image001.png, image002.png, etc.
Any gaps in the numbering will mess this up.

    Bless you Mike,

I thought there must be an easier way than individually changing the properties on 500 files!

    Worked perfectly – thanks,

Yes there is. VASST Ultimate S Pro is a script that will do this for you and a whole lot more. You can also change one PNG and then save the alpha channel property by clicking the diskette icon in the media tab. This will remember the setting for future files of the same type. Like this:

Note: This will not work for files already on the timeline. You must do this before you add files to the timeline so using a script is the best approach for your circumstances.

    Thanks John,

That was the kind of solution I was expecting. Long-term the VASST script has to be a sensible investment for us. I’ve had a few scripts written for as bespoke items for specific jobs, but a lot of the day-to-day stuff must be out there already on these packages.

We’ve solved this one now with Mike’s suggestion, but the feedback is appreciated.

    John M.
