edited footage is wrong aspect ratio..what happened ??
please help…I edited some footage…. replaced some shots on top of some footage…and re rendered…and all settings are for wide screen..origianl footage is wide screen but it came out uneven! some look like 4:3 please help I don’t know where i went wrong..and i need to give this project to the customers now….

Look at the shots that look 4:3 and right-click the event and on the media tab, what is the aspect ratio? Make sure it’s correct. If not, change it to the correct aspect.

Hi John…they are all wide screen….but when the video plays what I replaced doesnt have the bars…on top and bottom…. ???? so I have a video with bars..wide screen..and some without…please help

If everything is widescreen there should never be any bars at all. The fact that you have bars tells me that you are faking widescreen in a 4:3 frame. I’ll need more accurate information to figure out what’s going on:
What project template are you using? (exact name)
What render template are you using? (exact name)
What are your source media files? (see below)
To answer that last question, right-click the event and select Properties, then go to the Media tab and tell me the:
Format:
Attributes:
Frame rate:
Field order:
Pixel aspect ratio:Like this:

thanks John….the previous footage has bars on the top and bottom….the footage I’m trying to work with doesnt have any bars…

everything is set to default

This is your problem. 16:9 footage does not have black bars. 4:3 footage that fakes 16:9 has black bars. If your footage was really 16:9 there would be no black bars in a DV Widescreen project. It sounds like the footage that does not have black bars is the real 16:9 footage. You need to fix the footage that has the black bars to not have them… not the other way around.

Format: vegas pro projectThat is not a media file. That is a Vegas project .veg file. You need to look at the actual raw media files and find out what their properties are. Open that .veg file and find out what’s inside it.
What is your actual source? Is it SD or HD? AVI, M2T, MOV? What camera (make/model) did it come from?
