  • Selecting and clicking on timeline during playback makes playhead jump to cursor, always been like that? (might sound stupid)

    Greetings,

after a few months break i went back to editing in vegas and after installing the latest version i noticed that DURING playback if i click anywhere in the timeline or select region, the cti (playhead) instantly jumps to where i clicked and playback continues from there. This probably sounds stupid but thing is that i spent countless hours editing in vegas earlier and now after the break this feels completely wrong and unnatural to me. Did i get that rusty or something…i swear i used to be able to select things and change things in the timeline on the run during playback with the cti being at completely different location and in the middle of normal ongoing playback. When i clicked at a place i used to have to stop/play in order to start playing from that point. Tried older versions of vegas which i used before, hardware havent changed, OS been reinstalled not long ago.. xp32. Still the same. I tried enabling/disabling all the options i could find. Did i miss something or has this always been like that?

It’s always been like that for me. I don’t think FCP does that, and it was one of the things I didn’t like about FCP>

I’ve always clicked within a track. That sets a new starting position, but playback does not jump. I see what you are talking about, and vegas 8 does the same thing.

    Bob is right.
If you click outside of all active tracks, the cursor will immediately jump to that location.
Click within the active track area and playback stays at the current location.
