  • Multiple timelines out of sync?

Posted by Zelenia Nyx on May 31, 2010 at 8:19 pm

I have a project going where I have multiple timelines and the music in each timeline is supposed to be in harmony when played together. I add them all in, adjust them, and at first, it comes out just right. But, as the clip keeps playing, each timeline starts going out of sync with the others…and it just gets worse and worse as it goes.

Vegas actually isn’t the only program I’ve had this problem with. I had the same problem with Audacity…and on a different computer, even.

I have no idea how to fix this or even what’s wrong. I don’t know if it’s the program or the computer or just me.

    Any suggestions?

Make sure that all of your audio tracks are recorded at the same sampling rate. If they are not, they will diverge.

BTW, why multiple time lines? All of the tracks can be placed in a single project on a single time line if you are using Vegas Pro.

Where did these audio files come from? Were they recorded on the same device or different devices?

You might try going to Options | Preferences | Audio and turn on Import audio at project tempo.

Then go to File | Properties | Audio tab and set the project tempo to match your audio files.

Then drop the audio files onto the timeline.
