Is this laptop capable of HD video editing using Sony Vegas 9.0?
I am wanting a PC that will run Sony Vegas 9.0 and allow me to edit 1080p HD Video footage and render videos in a reasonable amount of time. I am thinking of purchasing a PC with the following hardware:
Intel Core i7 930 2.8GHz Processor
3GB Of DDR3 RAM
nVidia GeForce GT 210 512MB Graphics Card
Windows 7 Home Premium Operating SystemIs this system compatible enough to edit videos in full HD at 30fps with Vegas Pro 9.0?

Processor looks good; though you will probably want more RAM than that, say 6 or 8GB? It will make a big difference when editing and rendering large projects using 1080p clips.
A 1GB graphics card would also be better.
I mean, I’m sure that laptop will be able to do it, but with the upgrades I mentioned it will be much faster and there will be less of a stress on the computer when you start adding effects, making longer videos etc.

Also consider heat issues. Most laptops are made from injection molded plastic, which traps heat.
Some people report excellent success with the Asus G51, and also the Lenovo line, although you will always have better success with heat on longer projects in a workstation model.
And Eleanor is right: the more RAM, the better. Try for x64 in the operating system, although sometimes x32 in Vegas is better.

Vegas does not use the graphics card. Save your money.
Yes, more memory will help. Even more important are multiple, large, fast hard drives. That is a bit more difficult to do in a laptop.

I agree with Bob that more memory is the thing. However, if you ever intend to use Photoshop (even Photoshop Elements) then a graphics card is an extremely helpful tool.

Excuse me? Aside from the ability to calibrate a monitor, I have never heard of any case where Photoshop looks to a video card for improved performance. Could you explain what you mean by this?
