  • How did you capture the tapes? Log and capture or just rip in a whole tape?
  • Captured through a Kona LHe using the 720p 23.98 easy setup. Captured the whole tape using Capture now.

  • Do the cameras match or is it just the audio tc that is off?
  • Timecode between the cameras was consistently off by about 3 frames.

  • Did you capture over any tc breaks?
  • No. Created a new clip every time there was a timecode break.

Yes it syncs in timeline when lined up. But that doesn’t explain a :17-1:30 disparity between audio and video.

    Working at 23.98.

I think they must have messed up on set. I’ve never seen something like this happen in the edit system or during capture.

Yeah I think that would be a good idea. Sync sound and video in the FCP sequence with matching timecode. Set the sequence to output discreet tracks. Export a QuickTime. Reimport the QuickTime with multiple audio tracks.

Good idea. Eliminates the need for merged clips

Did that in one instance but when you start cutting it really gets messy in the sequence. If we were doing a line cut of the whole event that’s what I’d do.

That’s what I’m doing. I was just asking if maybe there’s something I’m doing wrong that would prevent the multiclips from coming together with the source timecode. Obviously the merged clip (CAM A) is throwing off something.

Well, if you sync your clips linked through AMA to your dual system sound, you’ll have non-native audio in the timeline synced with native video. As long as I don’t cut any of the native sound into the timeline, it should still export OMF, yes?

What the heck? What’s the point of using Link to AMA workflow then? I suppose if you never have to post sound elsewhere, that’s fine.

Good grief. What if it’s dual system sound?

Are you saying that if you use “Link to AMA files” to edit with ProRes you won’t be able to export an OMF for sound using the audio from those ProRes files?
