Thanks for the quick response John!
I’ll try your suggestion about copying the lib folder to the catdv2 directory when I get the chance.
The reason I decided to continue using the separate web server is SSL-encryption that is not configurable in the embedded version of Tomcat.

Thanks for the swift response, Rolf!
You are right that it was not actually a client crash. I did not see it myself but got a complaint about “a crash”. I actually do get the Worker Node to crash when trying to create proxy from this footage.
As you said the problem surely is with the footage, but my hands are pretty much tied because Quicktime (hence CatDV) does not support AVCHD and software like Clipwrap are not available for Windows. Transcoding is too time consuming to do on-site.
One option is to buy new cameras but our price range is basically dominated by AVCHD. If you can think of any other workarounds, please let me know.
Also, Rolf did you get my e-mail about the catdv.properties file?

Hey,
Thanks for the quick answer. I just checked and the same upside-down behaviour is happens also with the 6.6b13 server. I am sure that the same files did not behave like that with Chrome before. With iPad 2 + Safari every video works alright. Has Chrome changed their HTML5 implementation perhaps? I use version 21.0.1180.83.
BTW: I have recorded (not upside down) and transcoded both of the files. I imported the originals and proxy to CatDV again and they have Orientation metadata field set as 0.

Any updates on this matter? I provided some version info and a better (?) description of the issue. Let me know if you need something else.

Hi!
Thank you for your quick response! I checked the server version and it is 6.6b12. The problem I am having is that when in the web client’s edit smart folders menu I see all the smart folders from every production group. I would expect to see only the smart folders from the group I belong to. I can’t edit them though but they are visible.
The folders clearly are grouped somehow because they do not appear in the smart folder navigation (on the left).

Any idea for a Windows alternative for Clipwrap? I have spent several hours looking as a lot of our footage is AVCHD. So far I’ve used ffmpeg, which is not ideal for a novice user.

February 24, 2012 at 8:06 am in reply to: Subclip does not inherit metadata from user defined fieldsIndeed it works just as you described. Thanks for the troubleshooting. I find this functionality a bit unintuitive and reading existing values from fields would solve this as it would not overwrite metadata with empty fields anymore.
Another thing about the same menu is that if you customise the creating a subclip popup with a multi-hierarchy type user defined field CatDV crashes. The error it generates is: Action failed(squarebox.catdv.$0.$51 cannot be cast to javax.swing.JTextField). After this the Details panel freezes and the client needs a reboot to recover.

February 3, 2012 at 8:56 am in reply to: Subclip does not inherit metadata from user defined fieldsMaybe I am doing something wrong? Import video, assign a value for a user defined field from a grouping list, choose in2 and out2 points for creating a subclip and click “New subclip from selection”.
The following popup window, as you mentioned, does not read existing values from fields which would improve workflow in my opinion. But the problem I am trying to communicate is after clicking ok and a new subclip appears, it does NOT inherit the value I assigned to the ‘parent’ entry.
For testing this, I used a new local catalog and I tried saving it in every phase to see if it only read saved metadata but it did not help.
I am using 9.0.5 Windows version of the Professional Client.

Thanks for your quick responses Rolf!
The issue I wanted to point out was the missing semicolon between the values ie. Cars/AudiPart/Wheel. I am using firefox 9.0b if that makes a difference.

Hello!
I have the same issue as well. The group that created the smart folders see them correctly in the Web Client: in the navigation tree and in the settings. Other groups do not have the smart folders in the navigation BUT they do appear in the settings, which is not desired for our purposes. This will clog up the Web Client quite quickly.
Also, I can’t seem to find a way to sync the Smart Folders created in the Professional Client into the Web Client. You have to create them separetly, which is not super difficult but extra work nonetheless.
Best,
Toni
