If you please, exactly what updates are needed?

Here is my problem: After loading the latest Sony software updates from their website, I have the slow startup on my MBP w/trackpad, but, more disappointing, when loading clips directly from my EX-1 via USB, it will inport several clips (from FCP 6.0.4/Sony XDCAM Transfer plug-in), then I get a message in several languages that says, something like, “restart now.” This happened about five times yesterday. Each time I made progress with the clips but this is very time-consuming. Editing seems to be fine.

Perhaps my problem is exacerbated by my G-Speed Es RAID attached through the ExpressCard 34 port through a Griffin adapter purchased at an Apple store. If anyone thinks this could be the problem, please let me know.

I’ll try this again today without the RAID, but if I cannot resolve this, Apple suggests that I do an archive and restore to remove all third-party software. After this, what then would I load up if I am to use my MBP? Perhaps the culprit is the Sony Clip Browser, so I will not use this if it is the problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions of what might work? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the responses, guys

We are all a bit impatient for everything to be perfect since the camera footage is so good. I am a bit concerned, as I am sure you all are, that we can have trust in our backups.

    Craig,

What would be the best or most reliable backup solution for those of us who are only using XDCAM Transfer, which for me so far works fine? I am copying all the uploaded captured files over to another drive, but I am not sure about those if I ever needed them or if they are always “safe.” Clip Browser is not compatible with G5s, so I cannot use this–I am still waiting for the faster MacPro w/Blu-ray drive before I spot for the MacPro[perhaps I am waiting for a pipe dream!].

    Thanks, for responding, Michael

It is XDCAM Transfer version 2.5.1. Since it’s a G5, I think that is my only option, or at least the only method I have used thus far. Yes, I believe it must have been at the end of a longer clip so the first chip was full.

I still have the backup up BPAV folder, perhaps I need to pair it up with the clip just before it, just don’t know how that works. In other clips that spanned two SxS chips, I was able to get them OK. I usually try to avoid this, as most do.
