This is essentially what my GH3 does as well when it’s set to 40% while shooting in 1080p60. Setting it this way causes the camera to switch to 1080p24.

Just to clarify. This is a workflow that was posed to me and I too thought that Cinema Tools was an unnecessary step. However I didn’t want to advise against it because of a lack of my own knowledge of using Cinema Tools and sought out you all who may [still] use it and have pertinent information I don’t have and can share. I used to use Cinema Tools a lot way back when, but it’s been a minute (figuratively) and I can’t make a case for using it vs. today’s more modern tools. OF course I can’t say the same for the still awesome MPEG Streamclip.
There was a time where Cinema Tools was significantly better at conversions – better than using FCP 5, 6, and 7 perhaps with DVCPRO HD; essentially the days of flagged frames on tape.
Hope this makes more sense.

October 15, 2014 at 6:41 pm in reply to: Apply keywords to multicam (after the fact…) possible; markers instead? The keywords were used to isolate discussion topics in the interview. So if there’s 6 interviewees whom were all asked the same question(s), then the keyword collection would serve to show a particular discussion from all of them; effectively the appropriate in/out regions from each of those clips.
Does that help?

September 15, 2014 at 7:25 pm in reply to: Casting Shadows – What am I doing Wrong? (Motion 5)Somehow in the midst of my frustration I knew it’d be something ridiculously simple like that which I’d miss. Perhaps I didn’t consider that that would/should be an option. I just assumed having a light would naturally cast a shadow and didn’t consider looking at that parameter; going straight for the “receive shadows” thinking.
Thanks.

August 28, 2014 at 4:06 pm in reply to: Clips in multicam clip truncated in angle editor.I am 100% positive that there was no range selected. That’s not part of my normal workflow before making multicam clips either. I double checked anyway and there’s no range selection. A coworker also confirmed that he has experienced this as well. Perhaps it’s a bug.
Off-topic (but another bug): Another we noticed is that occasionally we’ve had clips not show up in the event window, but if you shift+F (match frame) a supposedly missing clip from your storyline it’ll magically appear in the event and therefore library. There were no search entry in the search field to filter the view of clips.

August 27, 2014 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Clips in multicam clip truncated in angle editor. That’s the right thinking, but these were new imports and no ranges had been selected yet. I was working in list view as well and simply selected the all of the clips for the appropriate reels that I wanted to use for the multicam clip.
