Glad to know I am not the only one experience lag with dragging connected clips For some reason it is much worse in 10.3 than in 10.2.X.

It’s working out pretty well for me. However since the release and with the 10.3.1 update here are the problems that bug me:
– Clips names disappear
– Background tasks icons doesn’t always update effectively that something is happening (such as transcoding)
– Dragging connected clips on the storyline like (particularly audio for us) is much much worse than pre 10.3. There’s a lot of lag time and delay on the same computer.
– The yellow alert symbol [still] doesn’t update automatically to reflect changes to get rid of the alert. It’s inconsistent.
– Dealing with audio channels takes a little getting used to now that I don’t have direct access to the Loudness Noise Removal, and Hum Removal (depending on the type of audio file (mostly polyphonic for us).Things I was sorely disappointed not to see:
– Batch Export
– Batch syncing
– Custom file naming that changes the actually Finder file name (either on import of post import) rather than the current – form which only maintains it in the FCP X database. -
I have been trying to figure out how to connect to a KeyFlow Pro library on a NAS to test it between two computers on the same network. Anyone using it this way? I have not had much success getting any help on this issue. I can connect to it just fine from the computer that I used to create the library, but not from any other computer; using the NAS IP address, my login and password.
The NAS is a Western Digital MyCloud EX2 Ultra.

Joe, we use EditReady to rewrap the clips into mov and those get imported. If we make proxies they’re made inside FCP X. The pixelation happens on playing forward and reverse, skimming and when playing faster than 1X speed.
We’re trying to nail down if it’s a card issue at the moment. We even had strange blackouts of frames for a a second or two and an instance where the footage was just cut off after 11 minutes during a shot that was much longer.
We’re doing all kinds of things to isolate the issue. Tried KYNO for a bit, but decided not to use it anymore simply because it doesn’t keep date/timestamps on the files it rewraps which is bad for or post to archive workflow.

November 4, 2016 at 5:57 pm in reply to: FCP X features or lack thereof. Your opinion on the rationale.Yes, I’ve used Premiere. And that’s why I don’t prefer it over FCP X. Although it has some very nice and wanted features; when they’re working and stable.
Thanks for the reply though. One tool I forgot to mention that comes in handy is using Decimus Synk between libraries. I use that sometimes. I realize one tool won’t do it all. I just thought these perhaps weren’t unreasonable.
At the end of the day FCP X still lets me get through my work very efficiently and my boss has seen a complete positive difference in what we can achieve with the same time and resources going from FCP 7 a while ago.
