I’m assuming that the problem occurs when playing your timeline in Premiere, but does it also occur when playing one of the clips in the Source Monitor? If it only in the Program Monitor, then I’d suspect the sequence settings.

First you should isolate the problem as to whether the file itself is damaged, or whether playing it in your computer is the culprit.
If it’s still able to be played in-camera, try that and see if the trouble shows up there. If not, then you’ll know that the file itself is more than likely not the problem.

Is the file saved out of FCP with ‘current settings’ cropped? Or does it appear to be happening within Toast?
At any rate, I’m not familiar with any crop settings in either program that occur automatically. You usually have to crop manually.

My first guess is that your watermark may be out of the ‘safe area’ for TV display. If you think that this may be the issue, here’s a short video about it.

I was under the impression that with the purchase of CS5 you received a year of (limited)CS Review free. The limited version didn’t work for my volume, so I went ahead and paid for an upgrade. I’m rapidly getting to the point where I wouldn’t want to be without it.

On the contrary, it’s VERY functional. I’m uploading clips as we speak for several clients to review.
Once it’s set up it’s really a one or 2 click process to encode a video and upload it to the review site. My only complaint is that anyone who visits the site to review the videos must set up an Adobe ID. It’s free, but somewhat of a hassle for my clients, and sometimes prohibited by company policy.

I don’t have any HDV footage at the moment to verify, but there is a free tool out there that I find almost indispensable called ‘MediaInfo’. It will tell you everything you wanted to know about media files.
