Both ATA busses in MDD Macs support drives over 137GB.
I read a post, in “Mac OSX” I think, about a 5 internal drives setup in a dual G4 MDD – the fifth (system drive) under the Superdrive, connected to a Sonnet 100ATA PCI card.

  • I’ve seen Avid Xpress DV do a really nice job of 50%ing a clip by running the ‘interpolate’ type option instead of standard frame-blending.

It helps also to shoot the original clip with a correspondingly shorter shutter speed (eg. halve the shutter speed if your going for a x2 slow down) if your camera can do this, to control motion blur.

I’ll go with the internal as I don’t see a need for hot swop at the moment.
Thanks so much for the help – the Cow is an amazing resource – hardly ever need to post a question !
Be nice if there was a DV50 forum though.

Thanks, that sounds like good advice – I’d missed the SATA option.
Can’t yet find a supplier in UK of a box to house more than one SATA drive but they must be around.
Any reason I couldn’t mount the new SATA drives inside the Mac ?
