  • So after getting the feedback from the people here (thank you so much!!) I got aware of not having ProRes in any setting of my MpegStreamclip or FinalCut Pro. I also read in one thread that Apple Intermediate Codec should do it, but not success.
I really don’t know in what to convert the compressed h.264 to be able to edit in my final cut pro HD.

    any suggestions?

  • DVCPro50 is not an HD codec. I believe it is specific to 720×480 only. So you’ve created a little mutant format there. You need to convert to something listed in the Easy Setups. That’s what FCP will play without rendering. Pro Res would be the obvious choice.

Maybe that’s the reason… I am not too familiar with all theses codec matters.
    a mutant codec?!
If I import the h.264 clip into the batch list of Streamclip I cannot choose any ProRes.
Isn’t it possible to convert a HD 1080 into DVPRO NTSC, 720 HDTV format?

  • thank you for the reply.

could it be possible that Final Cut Pro HD does not have the auto-conform settings?

the red line is the upper bar. I don’t hear any beeping. I can hear the sound I recorded with the scene.

Your settings are odd. I am curious why you convert your HD H.264 to an SD codec (NTSC DV is Standard Def, so is DVCPro50). Why also convert to 720?

Convert to ProRes 422 and edit away, IMHO.

I converted to 720 because I wanted to have a smaller HD format. I didn’t want to overload my computer. But I had the settings on HDTV 720p when converting. So I thought it would be no problem when choosing i.e. NTSC DV codec…

unfortunately with my MPEG Streamclip program I cannot convert to ProRes 422, that’s because I looked for something else.

Is there any conversion you can recommend me besides ProRes422? (As I know ProRes is also very big, so I don’t know whether my computer will cope with it.
