How are you mixing your live webcast?

  • [Mark Cansino] “comes with a 15-55mm lens.”

Don’t bother — it’s an awful lens. Can’t even get its value reselling it on eBay.

10-15 minutes is your limit. If you’re making “films,” it’ll be no problem. Think of it as a poor man’s RED — the RED has about a 4-5 minute record time on CF cards, too.

What do you want to make? If you’re doing short films, music videos, art projects, etc, the T2i is a great starter cam. If you’re doing corporate work, weddings, lots of interviews, panel sessions, or any other mission-critical work, get a pro cam.

You’re probably borking up the media file structure, likely by just deleting the .mov files, and not the accompanying XML and other info files on the SDHC card.

Just reformat each time to start fresh, or delete the whole PRIVATE folder on the card after offloading media.

The kit lens with the T2i is awful. If you’re saving money by getting the T2i over the 7D, put the savings into better glass.

How much color correction are you doing with these shots? How high is your gain? How much light are you using?

One more thing — the 7D lets you monitor in HD via HDMI while shooting, and the T2i only lets you monitor in SD while shooting (like the 5DmkII).

How dark is it? What kind of environment are you shooting in?

This camera isn’t great in low light. Add some light.

Transcode and edit in ProRes or AIC. No big deal.
