I can chime in on this. I’ve never actually converted 60 fps to 24, accept for slow motion, but not to be played in 24 frames per SECOND playback.

I was told though in film school that if you do this, that it causes the frames to be timed unevenly which can cause the video to look weird at times. I’ve never actually seen this, but this is what I was told before. But there may be a way to get the frames more evenly timed that I am not aware of.

Okay thanks. I tried exporting the video again, and it looks better now as if the frames are not missing. Perhaps something went wrong with just the one export for some reason.

Okay thanks, but why 40%? I want to get it as slow as I can, if possible.

As for exporting, what I mean is, is that when I export the scene into an H.264 video to send off to the other filmmakers to see how the scene plays out, it looks like frames are missing after the export.

What I mean to be more specific, is that it looks like frames are missing after I export it.

However, after converting to 24 fps now, there seems to be jerks in the footage. Could this be from the conversion since 24 is not divisible by 60?

Sorry I misunderstood, I see what you mean now. It worked, thanks!

Okay thanks, but I tried that already, and it’s still grayed out.

  • Oh okay that makes sense. I guess it’s also partly me and my views as I always prefer practical effects, over computer effects, and I am biased that way, and will always try to achieve as much practical as I can, but I think I am biased that way.

  • Plus I’ve already shot low stakes scenes for other short films, and I feel like it’s time to move up. When I ask questions like what piece of equipment is better for this and what not, that is me asking for moving up. I’ve been shooting low stakes scenes for years now, and have already went to film school, so I feel that it’s time to move on to projects stories that have higher stakes.

  • I’ve also watched all the film riot episodes pretty much but I feel that my questions are not quite covered by them, as I ask to compare one thing to another a lot, and they do not do a lot of comparisons, when discussing things.

I’ve also tried a lot of his methods but they didn’t work for me. For example, I built the DIY steadicam, but it kept falling apart. I built the DIY boompole, but it kept making too much noise when shifting it from actor to actor. So some of his stuff has helped, but others has not and I found it all to be hit or miss, which is not a bad thing, as I don’t think all of it will work for me.

Also you say not to shoot in story order, but who says I was shooting in story order?
