Okay thanks. Well getting deeper DOF does require more light, and the location is quite large and difficult to light that bright.
I can see about getting a better focus puller if that’s best.

Actually while I am practicing I discovered something else about the focus. What if you want multiple actors in a shot at the same time while zoomed in to 300mm at f5.6 around?
How do they do it in movies like when they are shooting on a telephoto and you see multiple people in the same shot?

Okay sure. Do you think that 0.12 feet of focus is too little, or is there a limit as to how shallow the focus can be before it’s just too shallow?

Oh okay, sure I can try that :). Thanks. I can just ask if they know any, if that’s best. I bought some equipment from a place too and can just ask if that’s good.

Okay thanks! Two of those places are rental services, but they do not have boom operators to rent. Just equipment rental only. The third place may rent out actual human operators, but if not, I can aim for bigger cities, and perhaps just fly someone in.
I know a few people in the filmmaking community from film school, and have contacts there, but unfortunately, no one wanted to be a boom operator specifically, so they are tough to find.
I can do it but as director, I prefer to be looking through the camera to make sure everything looks good. Do you think maybe I should just risk it, and be my own boom operator and director like I have a couple of times before?
I don’t like doing it cause then I cannot see through the camera so it not sure if things are in focus all the time and what not.
But maybe if I can find a good DP than I can be own boom operator if I have to be.

So you are saying it’s impossible to find a good boom operator where I live? I am willing to work with someone from another city and pay for accommodations for that person.

Okay thanks. It’s very difficult to see what is in focus and what is not in this particular zoom lens, compared to other lenses where what is out of focus, is more obvious. I can get a focus puller, just wasn’t sure if it was do-able. Thanks.

So I will keep looking for a good boom operator, if that is the best solution.
