July 10, 2009 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Why do the larger corporate clients take so long to pay?Yes, but in all seriousness, Bob, an account that never pays and merely piles up invoices in your accounts receivable department is as good as no account at all.
You didn’t lose anything by going over their head to the Big Boss. I have had to do the same thing more than once in my life and I do not regret doing it, one bit.
I would call this one a victory, not a loss.

You know, Jennifer, if you have a legitimate gripe with someone it would have been FAR SMARTER to write my wife and I (who are the site owners) to begin a dialogue and we would gladly help mediate an equitable resolution of the matter.
But coming here and doing stuff like this is going to get your account turned off in a real hurry.
We verify all of this kind of stuff and do not take it lightly. We have far too many times over the years seen people use tactics like this to try to destroy someone else’s reputation. In a few cases it has been warranted, but in most of the cases it is someone who doesn’t like that person and wants to destroy them. We don’t tolerate it one bit.
So if you wish to continue this, write me at ron@creativecow.net because if you try to post to this thread again before you do, I will ban you and set our servers to where your IP will not even be able to see the COW site.
In hopes of an honorable dialogue and resolution,

[Craig Seeman] “I’ve gotten a bounced check or two in my time.”
In California, writing bad checks will land you in jail. You can’t just write a check to get something and them let it sit forever. You have to deal with it or go to jail eventually.

[Todd Terry] “Hope Ron doesn’t mind the cross post here…”
Oh no, yet again have I been forced to don my El Hombre Malo costume…
[Scene cuts to camera angle looking over man’s shoulder into closet as he sifts through vintage 1970’s pastel colored polyester leisure suits and other über-stylish vintage clothing. He finds a black and white cow-spotted spandex super costume with El Hombre Malo written across the front. Slipping it on, camera reveals intense burgundy hued wine stains on the shirt.]
“Bummer. I guess I forget to get it dry-cleaned after Nick was here.”
So, you get off easy this time, Todd. El Hombre Malo in full costume with wine stains would never do. So, you are lucky, man.
[Strains of Emerson Lake & Palmer’s ‘[Ew, what a] Lucky Man [he was]’ plays in background.]
But let’s not make a habit of these kinds of posts here, please.

Yes, but the real question, Nick, is now that you have seen the Mancave Recording Studio in person, am I ever going to convince you to come out and record with me in it when it is all done?
:o)
Geoff Emerick won’t be engineering but I am sure I can track down some other geezer to handle the board and the set-up.
Kathlyn and I thoroughly loved having you guys here for a visit. It truly was an honor, Nick.

Well, Nick, now I gotta get all serious and stuff. Let me see if I can do it…
[sound of whirring gears here, machine struggles as gears engage]
I gave up on USA news quite some time ago as it was no longer news. It seemed much more interested in Brittney’s latest tryst or her problems with jail or anything else but real news. It became like the grocery store check-out stand tabloids with their endless interest in Brad and Jennifer and Angelina. Oh please…can we have something — anything! — real, please?
When they aren’t slathering all over some star or starlet, they are demonizing some schmuck and vilifying and convicting them long before the verdict is even in.
It has become The Business of Pandering & Villifying. It’s an even dirtier variant of the Show Business underbelly practiced in the movie industry.
The fact that the news didn’t mention an attack on the IT infrastructure of the USA is no surprise. But if they had hacked Brittney’s website, it would be a national calamity.
Even when news “pretends” to be news today, it is little more than one side of the political divide trying to whip up their constituency into a feeding frenzy designed to mock and vilify those on the other side of the political divide. Yawn.
Leonard Cohen said it best: There is a crack in everything, it’s how the light gets in.
But nobody listens to him either.
See? I can be serious, Nick.
😉

Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

[Steve Wargo] “Of course. let’s put the “fun” back in funeral. We could have Jesse James build a hearse straight out of Monster Garage. The gals from Sex in the City could do an episode called “Necrophilia. How about if we resurrect the “Dead Zone” TV show…and, and, and the “dead zone” campaign from Verizon would fit right in.”
Maybe license Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” as the channel’s theme song. Then again, the Alan Parsons Project’s “What Goes Up (Must Come Down)” would seem another natural choice.
But “putting the FUN back in funeral”…now that’s a slogan.
Steve you are sick. That’s why I like you.

[Robert Morris] “I’m sure someone could make a killing at this untapped market.”
I believe that would be on the new channel’s “MegaMurder Weekend” specials.
Sorry, I couldn’t pass that one up, either…

[Ty Ford] “I am shocked and appalled by the lack of attention to the issue of consumables in this contract! The lack of provisions that would require that the signer pay for all food and drink during preproduction, production and post production is a careless oversight.”
Might I humbly suggest a clause, such as:
“The Dummy shall maintain and provide Client with their current American Express Gold or Platinum card which shall be used, in part, to purchase any and all consumables related to current project and/or other projects which Client, at their discretion, shall deem as applicable to the successful completion of the job. Client also maintains additional right to use said Gold or Platinum card for any and all entertaining associated with the project, including but not limited to food, drinks, tips, bribes and gifts to agencies and their representative, if applicable, and to any and all family members or others who may wish to dress up for visits to set, and/or visits to salons to have hair, nails or make-up refreshed for aforesaid visits on-set or to Client’s hotel accommodations, which shall also be covered by Dummy. Hotel accommodations include, but are not limited to, basic room charges, tips to hotel staff — Dummy is herewith made aware that Client is an excellent tipper — as well as mini-bar, visits to the restaurant, main bar or any of the shops along the hotel promenade. The burden of proof that said purchases were made on the hotel promenade shall be on Client, to protect Dummy’s right that said purchases were made in accordance with the provision of this contract.”
There, that last proviso I put in to protect the Dummy even further.
Would something like that work for you, Ty?
Best,
