I couldn’t agree with you more, Don. But when the leaders ask time and again for a change of this nature, you have to listen to them, as well.
It can’t be all about the lowest common denominator — that only works in Age of Entitlement self esteem raising programs. We were slammed the other day by someone who wrote the admin team because this community was “so mean that the forum wouldn’t keep trying over and over to answer my questions.” The REAL problem? They didn’t want to learn even the basics of what a format is or what the program settings are. How can you help someone like that?
The community can’t possibly be responsible to answer everyone’s questions. After all, some people want an answer without having to invest a single calorie burned to get the answer.
But I agree with you that the real strength of this community is the sense of community. But there has to be at least a modicum of balance in it.
