This is our shameless attempt at trying to make people upload their user image.
We wanted a pirate cow with an eye-patch over one eye but figured that would be a little over-the-top and so we went with “Bright Sunshiney Day I Am So Happy” Bessie. (We were going to set it to where Howard Jones’ song “New Song” played in the background, but figured that would also be much too over-the-top.)
Bessie says she loves you, too, Jeremy. But Cowdog on the other hand says he reserves his opinion until he gets that beer you owe him.

There were a few users who persisted in nothing but rants against all that GV was doing — or what they thought they weren’t doing.
It went on and on and was so onerous, it finally became something that we thought was so uncowlike, that we closed it. We didn’t want to, Grass Valley is a great company. But the moderators of the forum didn’t watch it and were not interested in quelling the fires, so we were forced to kill it.
If you are looking for Edius support, I’d recommend the Canopus corporate site.

The only way to make it in this business when you have no experience, no money, and no track record…is to build your own track record, one job at a time, on your own sweat and tears. (Blood comes only if you work on a job with Bob Zelin.) ;o)
There is no substitute for experience and you will either get it working for someone else (recommended), or by building your own porfolio/reel/history (one mistake at a time, until the mistakes stop).
There is no way around it, and unless you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and can afford to pay people to do your job for you, you are the one who is going to have to build your own company — for a while, at least.

They don’t — at least if they want to be a real producer.
When it is clear that appointments are “intangibles” whose transience is based on outside circumstance, then your accounts won’t take you serious and you will be relegated to hobbyist status. No one else will take you serious.
As Gav Bott says, the only way around this is to have someone else as your back-up in case you can’t make it. But if you are going to play it that way, sign the contract as a company coming to fulfill a specific contracted service, not as you doing it. That way they won’t feel like they got the B Team.

Wow, I realize that I am not Monet or Michaelangelo, and that my work is ‘art for the moment’ and is not art for the ages, but just as Microsoft Word did not invent a single new author, I am not convinced that a box with a single button will get the job done either.
A threat to pros? I don’t think so. Well, unless the pros are not very pro. (And yes, Bob Zelin, you can use that one. I stole plenty of yours over the years.)
