Reading your post makes me want to throw out the suggestion that due to the length of time in which you use and amortize your gear, I wouldn’t be too quick to dismiss looking hard at the 4K/HDR gear as that is coming far faster than many may wish to admit. It may not be here today but it is definitely on its way and HDR is going to soon be the measure on whether something is truly broadcast worthy or not. It’s a ways off, for sure, but in the case of a system like yours that is an investment that will be around for quite a while, if it were me, I’d sure think long and hard before I’d let go of HDR and 4K capability. You may not use it right away but I’d sure like the feeling that it’s there when I need it.

A friend here in the COW had a production a couple years ago in which he was trying to get some mileage out of a successful show he had done a while back and I wrote him privately and told him to get it upconverted and uprezzed into 4K as quickly as he could and offer it to Netflix and a few of the 4K rental services on smart TVs because they were needing content. He did it and sure as eggs is eggs, he got new life out of the old show.

Many will argue that it’s going to be a long and fitful transition and they would be right but for the extra cost, I am not sure I’d want to close my door to seizing opportunities that might otherwise arrive.

Save your money, Peter, and build your restaurant page free on Facebook and add another free page to Yelp. Forget a website, as for your business, your customers are on Facebook and Yelp and both of those services will walk you through the process step-by-step. A new Thai restaurant just opened in our town and he lit up a Facebook and Yelp page and is doing well. He has no website.

Thank you, Todd, for the kind words. It took years to get my health back but I’ve been lurking around here again and fixing a bunch of the broken things, as well as working on some improvements. First, our condolences on the new Blackberry. Just kidding, enjoy it. ???? They are good devices and they help the Canadian economy, so there’s two reasons to like them. ????

On the matter of the post, I just went into the database and checked all of the parent child relationships on that thread and you are not there. Your attempted post may be cached on the Blackberry where you started it but it was never added to the board and there is no error or other issue showing, either.

Hello Mark,

After checking the admin tools, there are absolutely no issues with your account and you are not blocked from that forum in any way. This one is a head scratching issue because you can get to other forums and every forum in this site, including the Classifieds section, is driven from the same database and only thing separating them is the unique names given each “compartment.”

I am truly sorry I do not have better news for you.

Every data table in the Creative COW forums works on the exact same engine and structure so if you can post here in the Letters To the COW forum, it works on exactly the same engine. Nothing from forum to forum is unique other than the names on each forum. I do not understand why you cannot get to the Classifieds posts unless one of the mods has slapped a lock on your ability to post there, which can happen if a dealer or commercial seller systematically tries to post in the Users Classifieds section. I will do some digging and see what I can find out and if that has possibly happened to you.

Sorry to have ignored your post for so long but it was unintentional and seeing it this morning, I wanted to explain that the edit functions (as in most all forums systems) are only available for a time and then they disappear. Why? Because, for example, if a user posts something that causes a reaction on the boards and then edits out the part of their post that elicited the feedback, it makes everything that follows look out of place and disconnected. So, for that and a number of other reasons, most all forums systems that we are aware of, use a “free to edit for a while and then lock the comment” modality.

I hope that explains what is up, Robert.

Hi Steve,

We recently moved the COW over to Amazon Web Services as our backbone and have been doing some debugging of some systems that tweaked in the move. The search engine sometimes is a bit wonky and we are aware of that. We will shortly be swapping it out with Google’s latest iteration.

But before I say that definitively is the issue, have you tried using the More Options link in the search and selecting the forum you want to search, or selecting all forums? I tried that and got a ton of responses for the term “3600.”
