David for the long run, I know it would be best to get a 4 bay enclosure from owc, but as of now my budget is around $200 and the enclosure by itself is $300. I just need a decent storage setup to hold me off for a while.

Thanks Everest,
I’ve been reading about it in the manual. As for the storage issue, I’m thinking of getting OWC Elite Pro Enclosure and buying a relatively cheap 2tb drive (WD Green) to back up the internal (500gigs), and Lacie (1tb). Then I guess I’ll get another firewire drive when the Lacie fills up. Someone is offering me a used 2tb G-raid for $100. Is this a good idea for the next media/scratch drive? The issue of backing up this new drive comes up though…
I try to keep on top of deleting unneeded things. How do most people archive projects they have finished with? I’m guessing a tape format, but I don’t have that luxury so they just sit in the drive.

Will do those things next post. Anyways I figured it out. I just looked at the apple support section of quicktime player and found out the supported files. I encoded one of the files into a couple of the various supported formats and then emailed it to the individual. All of them worked on his computer.

I implemented the optical flow in Motion. Those render times were horrendous but I guess that’s how it goes with all the immense calculations going on. Once back in final cut, should frame blending be clicked on or off for that clip?

mixed up progressive and interlaced, my bad. I tested it on a short clip. I encoded it in Compressor as you stated and then dropped them into a 29.97 timeline in FCP. The “regular”clip, with the play source as 29.97 is great and plays like I want it to. As for the slow mo clip, it is already at half speed. Will I be able to further toggle the speed in FCP’s Change Speed and maintain a fair amount of quality? Should I implement flame blending or no?

I figured out the problem. Thanks for the help.

So is there no way of working with both video formats in one sequence and them having the same dimensions for the final export? When I export a sequence with both footage the aspect ratios they do conform but again its just letterboxed all around. Also in canvas it looks perfect.

In media inspector there are two types, First DV 720×480 (853×480) and the second is DV 720×480(640×480). As I stated in the first post, when I import it into Final Cut one set has anamorphic clicked in the item settings and the other set (the non squished and the fine export), is not clicked.
I’m guessing they where filmed in the same exact format but were captured (onto the individual’s computer) differently. I say this because some of the footage does have some overlap. So some of the videos are in both formats and only have proper aspect ratios in 720×480 (640×480) (nonanamorphic).
I’m sure there is a way to simple way, to fix it but it’s over my head.

It’s strange, when the footage is dropped into the final cut browser it is automatically read as anamorphic. If I unclick anamorphic in the specific item’s settings prior to dropping onto the sequence the issue is resolved. Thanks for the response Michael.
