You could just stop using Youtube because it sucks and you can use Exposureroom.com

They don’t limit the size of your video and you may have as many videos as you want.

    Oh Thanks. That’s very helpful.

As far as audio levels, let’s say I peak my audio at -6 like you. If I do File>print to video (MiniDV tape) and want to include bar and tone, I’m assuming I would set the tone to -20dB then since you said it’s standard digital tone, correct? If so, why set to tone so low from what I’m peaking. I was under the impression they should be the same because you would set the tone to 0 on the VU meter in a studio, that way whatever your peaking level is, its now at 0 on the VU meter?

Sorry if that’s a dumb question or if I’m getting anything wrong. I’m still and student and haven’t worked in a studio environment much.

OK. I’ve heard -12dB from others as well. To be exact, my engineering teacher told me -20dB to -18dB. I was also told that by someone from one of my older post on creative cow. But when I took a Final Cut class in school, I was told -12dB to -8dB. So what is it? I never get consistent answers wit this issue.

Thanks. Your step by step instructions will be very helpful; however, I’m in another problematic situation. I’m playing a MiniDV tape as I type this and I have the TV connected through the yella RCA connection. I’m not getting any video for some reason.

There is a channel menu in the main menu. Within that I can only choose between “Cable TV” and “Antenna.” There is no “video input” anywhere in the menu of the TV.

Any Ideas? Do I have to have final cut running even if I just want to look at a tape?

“apple + option + 8” toggles the zooming effect on the Mac on and off. then press “apple + option + +/-” to zoom in or out.

if you press apple + option + 8 and then try to zoom, you probably had the effect turned on and then just turned it off. so just press apple + option + 8 again to turn it back on then press the command to zoom in or out.

so basically, if im color correcting and want to keep everything broadcast safe, i just make sure my blacks aren’t below 0 IRE and my whites aren’t above 100 IRE? That’s what i’ve been doing, i just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing it wrong.

yea, I think i kind of do. Intraframe only looks at that one specific frame when encoding. GOP looks at the ones before it. and intraframe uses MJPEG compression where as GOP uses MPEG.

feel free to enlighten me with anything i missed though.
