Just to make it crystal clear:
Many times in the past I got (from Computer Magazines, off the net) various footage- .WMV, .AVI, .MPG etc.
Many times, while trying to import them in Premiere/AE, I got:
-black screens
-“format not supported”
-video without audio
-video with various artifacts (the original was fine, though)

So my question tried to prevent this from happening, by providing my exported videos with max compatibility, for further editing, by me or others.

What nle are you referring to? After Effects? Or any other softwares that I subsequently import AE’s rendered footage into?

No problem, I hadn’t specified my AE version in my post.

Just a thought: I can’t be the only one wanting to *convert* an MPG to MOV, using AE, without color issues, without relying on color schemes.

How did the people in the old days, before color schemes were introduced, solve this *common* task in AE? People like those in this very forum, how were they handling this issue in AE 1/2/3/4/5/6?

Some questions about that:

1) Is this method feasible for already-rendered footage, if I don’t have the Project file?
Let’s say I download an .mpg off the net (no AE Project file, nothing). Can I still embed a color scheme in it at this stage? How?

2) I use AE 6. And I can’t find anywhere those color options. Where are they?

I have a follow-up question to the first one.

If, instead of the ball with a trail, the ball would, in its revolving motion, “draw” a solid trail (that would NOT disappear after a time) _around_ the person… so in the end the person would be encircled by a solid “torus”…
Would _that_ be possible in AE?
