WOW! I would have never thought a specific name brand would make that big of a difference. They weren’t cheap (either because they weren’t on sell or never go on sell) but I bought a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD-Rs and the burns play with no issues on all players so far.

My eyes are open I’m going to use the two name brands for everything. I’ve done so many large distro projects (25-100) that have several come back because people couldn’t get them to play, it makes sick just thinking about it.

The Cow is the place to be, thanks guys.

How much difference can a name brand really mean? I’ve used tons of different names and haven’t seem to have any difference in experience with my burns once they burn.

At any rate I’ll try the one easiest to get to (Virbatium or how ever you spell it)

I was more wondering if there’s a settings to try or if there is some do nots to avoid in order to make the DVD player’s life easier.

I have Nero as an option but anybody who’s used the two knows the limitation there. It may make a happier Disc but not the most professional.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear, the hard drive is connected SATA II and it is internal. I’ve turned off the antivirus, uninstalled some things and even stop some programs running in the background.

It was working fine for about 6-9 months, then one day sloppy playback.

When I went back to school, I used some books that I still use today. I would say if you nose around at a local university with a video production department you might find something pretty solid. I’ll look tonight for the books I still hold onto. Another place to look is the “SAM” professional encyclopedia series. I know they do professional audio and I’m sure they do broadcast video. GREAT reference stuff.

    Just my to cents.

  • Not that intense direct light is a common subject matter of mine, I do believe there are two ways to achieve the goal you where looking for. Some DP’s I’ve work with use special filters when shooting directly in the sun. Rare, I know, it has come up. I’m sure that this application could be filtered properly but I wouldn’t trust myself to do it, I would hope the person I’m paying would know enough to make it right.

The other thing is to add it in post. All most any editing software can add the effect with some amazing life like results.

    Just My two cents.

I guess I wouldn’t want to output to SP and it not be supported by most people. I doubt that’s the case, but with all the new formats I wonder if SP was still used and accepted by the masses.

My concern with fire wire was that DV has a 25mbps rate vs and Beta SX has a 50mbps. If I was to use the firewire channel would it transfer in the DV standered or is the port just as good as the SDI.
