  • Thank you guys with the help. I was curious if anyone else was having this issue.

I did post on the neat video forums and I got a response that has helped me narrow down the issue.

As noted, the neat video noise reduction plug-in is processor intensive as it requires a lot of power to cleanly remove noise and produce a quality image.

Part of my issue is that my processor (AMD FX 8150 over clocked to 4.6Ghz) over heats from the intense processing required. This overheating is the result of a combination of how hard I push the processor and the algorithm neat video uses to remove noise.

The second part of the problem is that there appears to be a driver issue with my video card: AMD FirePro v7900. The neat video plug-in is not able to detect the Open CL ability of my card and therefore places all the plug-in computation on the processor.

One solution that has worked, yet doubled the render times of clips using noise reduction, is to reduce the number of cores the plug-in uses to remove noise from 4 to 2.

My next steps to correct the problem is to resolve the driver issues with the AMD video card.

I’ll post my solutions once I get everything worked out.

    Thank you guys for responding.

November 27, 2013 at 4:48 pm in reply to: RAID 5 Drive failure

    I fixed it.

    This is what I did:
During the boot up process I pressed F10
this brought up the built in Nvidia RAID control utilitiy
Once there the screen showed 2 drives in the RAID
one drive bad and another drive degraded
I selected the bad drive and pressed enter for information
the utility showed the bad drive was on esata port 2.1
I went back and checked the degraded drives (meaning healthy but not active) and the nvidia utility showed the degraded drives where on esata ports 3.0 and 3.1

with this information I was able to figure out which drive was bad.
I powered down, removed the bad drive and replaced it with a new drive of the same make, model, and size.

I rebooted and hit F10 again
the Nvidia utility now saw one RAID drive with the option to Rebuild.
I hit “r” to rebuild the selected RAID and left the computer on, in that utility, over night.

The next day I exited the Nvidia utility and rebooted straight to windows 7 and all my information was restored!

    Hooray!

I can’t find it in Ae. Where do I install it? I’ve seen people mention several different places for Ae Cs5 ect but no one has said where to install it for Ae CC.

Here is another question, last one I promise: I have trapcode particular creating particles in this same comp and now that I have re-sized everything, the particles are now materializing off center relative to where they where originally; how do I fix that?

John, thank you. That did the trick. Thank you both for answering. I voted for both your comments. Thank you

Thanks, but there is an asset, an Ai logo and when I use the upscale script the asset loses some clarity. Is there another way?

  • Ever since I updated the driver the problem has become worse. Premiere pro doesn’t just crash, it closes with no error messages or anything. When I render, I get crazy excito colored random frames. I have seen that this is only an issue with the lumetri looks and amd cards. Can any one solve this problem?
