I’d do a small test sequence first, I’m guessing that if there’s a title crawl large enough to confound real time playback, your program is long enough to make a mixdown a huge pain.

Usually not a fan of mixdowns but a while ago I was forced to output on a much older Mac Pro with an older version of Avid, and the only way it would export properly is if I did a mixdown. I haven’t seen the problem since but I do know sometimes 6 has a problem exporting from the timeline. Have you tried an export from the bin?
Only other thing I can say is to duplicate the sequence and do a video mixdown.

Thank you, that’s what I wasn’t clear on. I’m only familiar with the dongle system because of work. The digital license is new to me.

Is that title crawl the only layer in the export?
Sometimes in a crunch I’ve just done a mixdown and the result was fine.

The only thing I never understood was the activation/de-activation thing. Do I have to de-activate my home Avid first, then install on another computer?

It’s a way to work a bit more intimately with the source. If it’s just a clip, I can look at the audio waveforms and it is also very useful when your source is a sequence . It’s just a way I like to work. I’m betting it is something Adobe will include soon. At NAB a lot of editors approached them about this,

Do you find you have problems there with the new iMac?

Yes, G-Raid only makes thunderbolt drives, but also a lot of pro users would be on ISIS or some other kind of shared storage anyway.

let’s just say that one of our machine room guys who handles a lot of the buying nearly crucified me for wanting to try an iMac. He probably has his reasons but I definitely drank the Nvidia kool aid.

At NAB I didn’t see any “We’re listening” signs at the Avid booth like I did at Adobe.
