I would agree. At the moment, I do a lot of 3D work which requires significant CPU horsepower to accomplish. I added a 1U server to start my “Farm” but if I had my druthers, I’d much rather use the “Cloud” when I needed it than build my own. I know, there are services out there for just this thing and they are starting to come available. I’ve looked into them and for the moment, for my needs, the current overhead to use those resources is fairly significant. Another current restriction is the pipe in and out of my home/office. Current ISP services suck especially when it comes to the going out side of the equation. Again, hopefully market pressures will make this change. I can imagine, hopefully sooner than later, a setup where I keep a modest modicum of computing resources in my office and on a needed basis I can quickly upload job’s to the cloud, render things out, and get my work back, and let someone else maintain the headache of all of those BTU’s and maintenance. It’s not there yet but starting to become visible just over the horizon.
OT – In a previous life… I worked for a short time for a company that made “smart fan controllers” for computers. They were really proud of the fact of how they could dump 1Kw out of a box. I sat in one meeting and pointed out that the first law of thermodynamics says you can’t destroy heat only move it, so great you just took 1KW out of a box but you just put it under my desk….. where I don’t want it. Their comment was, that was the integrator’s problem not theirs. This is the kind of thinking that currently has me putting servers in my closet with a small portable AC unit, all of which I would LOVE to dump but for the moment I can’t.

In the early Apple II days, there was a model under development called the Apple II CS. It got out that the CS stood for a project Code name of Carl Sagan. (I believe in direct respect to the Astronomer). Once it got out, the real Carl Sagan threatened to sue because they were using his name. The team quickly fixed that by changing the name of the project to “Butthead Astronomer”

Yep, that is the message verbatim. I only x’ed out account names, amounts and email address. Understand, the iTunes representative is some person working in a cubical and only was parroting my statement and I believe was simply being courteous, not making a statement on Apple Inc. position.

Ok, one more post in defense of myself. Here is my exact reply I including my original email to AppStore support. Names and account numbers have been redacted for security and privacy purpose. Given my full name posts on this web site I saw no reason to remove that. Credit given were credit is due, my contact at the Apple AppStore was prompt, courteous and professional.
“Move along, nothing here, these aren’t the droids were looking for”

Specific request: This app didn’t function as expected
Item title: Final Cut Pro X
Details: Also orders XXXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXXXXX. I purchased FCPX on Tuesday and Motion 5 and Compressor 4 on Wednesday.
This software is horrible. I have been an avid supporter of Apple and in particular a FCP user for close to 5 years.
I’ve been buying Apple hardware and software for much longer. I purchased this product basically on faith and your pre announced hype. This software is unusable for a professional video editor. I worked with it and the list of its
shortcomings are to long to list here. Yesterday, I made edits, quit and then opened and my edits were gone.
I couldn’t save my changes when I quit because there is no save menu item with this software. It does not work. Period.
I would like a full refund of my purchase. I have already deleted this from my hard drive and have no plans to
ever download it again.TrackID: xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thats ok. We will all just edit our full feature length movies on our iPads and iPhones. Isn’t that what everybody else is doing????
-
Of course it is absolutely next on the block. With FCPX you don’t need a box with slots. Thunderbolt is all the high speed I/O you could need, and the rest of the interfaces they don’t care about. It does not take rocket science to see that FCPX was designed to run on iMacs and MacBooks. Sad but true.

No you are talking about HOW they market their product. I am talking about WHAT they actually make. Two very different concepts.
As a business you make money on WHAT you make. Part of why you succeed or not is dependent on HOW you market your product.

Don’t laugh. Give tech manufacturing a couple of years and an iPad 6 with a quad core A7 CPU running a retina display will run FCP12 very nice I’m sure. And there will be a market for it and consumers will love it.

I’m sure you do know everything there is to know about a fashion brand. Contrary to what you may believe Apple creates consumer electronic and software products. They do not create fashion brand products. It is as simple as that.

No…. I don’t buy Tommy Hilflger I get cheap Khols or Costco if it fits. I could care less what Calvin Kline is pushing. I don’t buy a Chevy because they make a Caddy and a Vet. No one in the consumer market Apple serves cares that you use or don’t use an Apple product.
