Where did you get that weight figure Todd? The Vinten specs rate the Vison 3 up to 10kg (22lb).
OK – the Vision 3 is discontinued – the 3AS is the new model. But it seems that whereas the V3 used interchangeable springs to take it from 4-22lbs, the V3AS is “infinitely adjustable” up to 11lb.
Bummer.

I use a Vinten Vision 3 with an XLH1. It does not have the 3-at-a-time adjustment – but it is a smooooooooooooth unit.

Todd, you say “It’s the fact that the phasing is causing slight changing in the ratio of the mix of the lighting that is causing your color shifts.”
So when shooting under office fluorescents the phasing should be less noticeable if you shoot without additional tungsten fixtures?

I’m no audio expert – but I doubt that overhead mics will yield acceptable results. They are fine in a theatre where actors are all taught to project, but try it and see.

Too ambitious and not ambitious enough. For it to have any value you have to broadcast live.
Sports is one of the few bastions of high end production. High-end equipment, very experienced crews.

just install another version of filemaker on a different partition/machine. Import the data, trash the old once the new is up and running.

I think there was a time years back when wedding video was a commodity. A video of your wedding was worth $500 for a short one, and double or triple that for a long one. Today a competent wedding video is not a commodity – its more like a painting than a porkbelly.
There are many people with all sorts of equipment and software, who are prepared to work for nothing/experience/starting out/demo reel.
For the person who wants a video that’s in focus and has an intelligible audio track, they can find such very cheaply.Conversely there are a growing number of brides who are shifting more of the media budget over to video.
To be in business you must produce a style of video that people are willing to pay a premium for.
So…
There is no answer to your question, it’s like “I’ve been playing guitar for 4 years, how much can I expect to make if I turn pro?”
Send samples of your work to local video companies.

I would almost never include “popular music that i think they would enjoy”. More obscure music that I think they would enjoy – rarely, and mostly only snippets. Either music from the reception or music they have asked for. I used the theme from a movie once (Princess Bride) because the grooms father alluded to the movie in his speech, but I would want a hook before doing something like that.
Just ask for a list of songs they want included on the DVD. Even if I start out hesitant about a using a particular song, it always works out great one way or another.
So far.
